Cul Camp 2014

This summer’s camp started with misty wet conditions. The forecast was good and thankfully the weather cleared up for the week. 200 underage players attended camp. This was the largest number I can remember and it was the third largest camp in the county this year. We had guests from Dublin, Kildare and other Cork clubs taking part this year.
Each day groups had 4 sessions, each session was taken by a different coach and assistant. The groups enjoyed the variety in coaches and it helped keep the sessions interesting for the players.
Highlights during the week included a visit by Cork hurler, Seamus Harnedy who spent lots of time chatting to the kids in each age group, signing Jerseys and answering any question. The other highlight was a visit by The Ice-Cream Van on the last day. The children made more of a fuss about the ice cream.
Thanks to all coaches, assistants and parents who helped out. Thanks to intermediate hurlers, Sean O'Callaghan, Donal O'Callaghan and Peter O'Reardon for taking the older groups for specialist sessions. Finally thanks to Margaret O'Connell and Dora Desmond for all the effort over the past month organising the week and their attendance during the camp ensuring the smooth running of the event and the enjoyment of all concerned. Hopefully we will do it all again next year. Report by Don Hennessy. Photos available on facebook and the website
