Championship Win For U-16 Hurlers. INNISCARRA 1 - 19. BALLINHASSIG 2 - 7.

Inniscarra had a hard earned victory over Ballinhassig at Ballincollig on Sunday morning in the Rebel Og Premier 2 Championship. Ballinhassig were first to score but gradually Inniscarra got into the game.  Owen McCarthy opened their account with a point from a 65 followed by a point from play.  Colin O'Sullivan next pointed also from play.  A foul on the excellent Liam Buckley resulted in another pointed free from Owen McCarthy followed by a pointed free by Ardal O'Connell. An injury to Jamie O'Sullivan left Inniscarra short at the back and Ballinhassig took advantage scoring a goal but Inniscarra responded with points from Owen McCarthy and two from Ardal O'Connell.  Powerful defending by Con O'Leary resulted in a free which Ardal converted and he also pointed a free following a foul on Michael O'Connell. 

Half-Time score INNISCARRA 0 - 10, BALLINHASSIG 1 - 3.

Ballinhassig again got the first score of the second half from a free but a point from Colin O'Sullivan following a good run by Dylan Church and a pointed free by Ardal O'Connell after good work by Edward O'Connor kept Inniscarra in control.  Dylan Church then set up Michael O'Connell for a brilliant point and Ardal pointed a free after good work by Liam Ryan at midfield.  An excellent clearance by Ciaran Lombard found Liam Buckley who quickly laid off to Michael O'Connell and he split the defence to rifle the ball to the net.  Ardal, Owen and Michael had another three points to put the game beyond Ballinhassig but they were not done yet and scored three points followed by a goal but for the last five minutes the full-back line of Cillian Murphy, James Murphy and Liam Doyle stood firm and some excellent saves by Dave Og Coleman saw the game out.
