PREMIER 1 U-15 HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL 2015-10-07 11:07:00

PREMIER 1 U-15 HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL.

INNISCARRA 2 - 8. SARSFIELDS 1 - 13.

After a thrilling hours hurling before a large crowd at Togher on Sunday morning Inniscarra just failed by two points to win the Premier 1 Hurling Championship final.  The result was in doubt up to the final whistle and the players can be very proud of their performance and each and every one played their part in a tremendous effort.

Inniscarra led by 1 - 6 to 0 - 6 at half time and fully deserved their lead, the goal coming in the eighteenth minute when a long range free from Padraig Holland was played back across the goal by Frankie Horgan and Eoin Daly finished the ball to the net.  Inniscarra were first to score with Owen McCarthy pointing a free. Liam Ryan then fed Eddie O'Connor for Inniscarra’s second point after ten minutes and Eddie scored another point five minutes later after good work by midfielder Jamie O'Sullivan and Mark Buckley.  A brilliant catch and clearance by the inspirational Mark McLoughlin on twenty minutes led to a free which Owen McCarthy pointed. Five minutes later a brilliant shot from Dylan Church was deflected onto the crossbar by the Sars keeper to deny Inniscarra a certain goal.  A long clearance from Jack O'Sullivan found Frankie Horgan and he scored a point before Eoin Daly had another point with a lovely strike from out on the left wing.

The second half began with Inniscarra on the attack but scores were at a premium and Mark McLoughlin struck the post before Sars attacked and scored a goal and followed with two points.  Good defensive play by full backs Evan Kelly and Fergal O'Leary and a good clearance by Cillian Murphy found Dylan Church who ran at the Sars defence and scored a magnificent goal.  Sars replied with a point and midway through the second half the sides were level.  Padraig Holland pointed a long range free after a foul on Con O'Leary and Eoin McCarthy had Inniscarra’s last score with a pointed free.  Inniscarra tried valiantly in the last few minutes to rescue the game but just failed to get the vital scores.
