U15 hurlers reach county final 2018-04-28 21:30:00

Inniscarra had a comprehensive victory over Cobh in the Fe-15 P2A Hurling Championship semi-final at Cobh on Friday evening. On a very heavy pitch, Inniscarra gave a first class performance with some outstanding individual performances. The half-back line of John Cussen, Brian Lowney (when moved to centre back) and Sean O'Deadaigh were outstanding with Mark Linehan and Conrad Desmond at midfield in complete control. Cobh were first on the scoreboard with a pointed free before a Sean O'Deadaigh clearance was picked up by Aaron O'Donovan who was fouled and Conrad pointed the free. A slick move involving Joe Enright, Se O'Donoghue and Brian Lowney resulted in a foul on Brian which Conrad pointed. Good defensive work by Sean McLoughlin and Sean Naughton resulted in the ball reaching Brian Lowney and his long clearance found Peter Dunne who scored a beautiful point. A brilliant catch at midfield by Mark Linehan led to the ball reaching Conor O'Riordan who was fouled and Joe Enright pointed the free, followed by another pointed free by Joe. A well taken line ball by Peter Dunne reached Scott McElroy and he scored another point. Joe Enright had another point after a lovely pass from John Cussen. David Keane was first out to a breaking ball in defense and he found Brian Lowney who transferred to Se O'Donoghue who picked out Mark Linehan for another point. Just before half-time Sean McLoughlin cleared a long ball out of defense which reached Joe Enright and he found the back of the net. This was followed by two points from Conor Desmond to leave the half-time score INNISCARRA 1 - 11, COBH 0 - 2.

Against the wind in the second half, Inniscarra needed to keep the momentum going and they were quickly into their stride with Conrad Desmond scoring a long range point. Peter Dunne found Scott McElroy for a point and Joe Enright pointed a free. A brilliant catch by Conrad led to another Scott point before Conrad split the posts himself. Cobh tried gallantly to get into the game, but the full back line of David Keane, Sean McLoughlin and Sean Naughton were outstanding and repelled every attack and with goalkeeper Colm Heelan making some outstanding saves to keep a clean sheet in very difficult conditions, Cobh were fighting a lost cause. A beautiful point by Aaron O'Donovan was followed by goals by Scott and Se. Points by Scott and Se were followed by a goal by Mark Linehan after good work by Charlie Harkin. Good defensive work by Paddy O'Herlihy led to a Brian Lowney point. Ross O'Donovan then had a shot on goal saved but Mark Linehan drove the follow-up to the net to complete the scoring. Final score INNISCARRA 5 - 20 , COBH 0 - 5.
