CHAMPIONSHIP WIN FOR FE.18 HURLERS.
INNISCARRA 1 - 20, GLEN ROVERS 0 - 12,
Inniscarra had a good win over Glen Rovers at Blarney on Wednesday evening in the
Premier 1 Hurling Championship and now progress to the next round where they will
meet Midleton. After a sluggish first half lnniscarra trailed by 10 points to 6 points at half
time but in a five minute spell at the beginning of the second half they scored a goal and
three points without reply to take control of the game.
Straight from the throw-in lnniscarra gained possession with Con O'Leary feeding the
ball to Padraig Holland for the first score. Two points by The Glen were cancelled by two
points from Fergal O'Leary. After two more Glen points, Padraig Holland leveled the
scores with a pointed free after a foul on Darragh Hughes. A dangerous Glen attack was
stopped with a brilliant save by goalkeeper Evin Cunningham and good defending by
Jack O'Sullivan and Robert Cahill got the ball to Dylan Church who fed Mark Buckley for
a much needed point. Fergal O'Leary got lnniscarra's last point of the half after catching a
Iong clearance by Mark McLaughlin.
Half-time lnniscarra 0 - 6.Glen Rovers 0 - 10.
Trailing by four points at half time, lnniscarra were a lot more determined in the second
half and were quickly on the scoreboard with half time substitute Stephen Linehan
playing in Dylan Church for the first point. Padraig Holland then scored a massive long
range point from the right wing before Owen McCarthy scored his first point after very
good defending by Jamie O'sullivan. Owen McCarthy was then through on goal and was
fouled for a penalty which Padraig Holland dispatched to the net. A pointed free by
Padraig Holland was followed by a point by Frankie Horgan and two points by Liam Ryan
and one each by Dylan Church and Owen McCarthy followed by two Padraig Holland
frees. Another point by Owen McCarthy was followed by a great catch and run by Sean
Sheehan before leading to a foul which Padraig Holland pointed. Padraig then converted
another free after a foul on Colin O'Leary.
Final Score INNISCARRA 1 - 20, GLEN ROVERS 0 - 12, which meant lnniscarra
