Inniscarra defeated St Finbarrs in the Fe-12 Group 1 Hurling league at Ballyanly on Tuesday evening. This was an impressive performance by a highly skilled team.  Inniscarra were quick out of the blocks and could have had a few goals in the first half  but had to settle for a five points to one lead at half time. Niall Buckley had a goal attempt turned out for a 65 which Darragh O'Brien pointed and Darragh repeated the feat shortly after when Alex Neilon had an attempt also saved resulting in another 65. A good ball out of defence by David Linehan was picked up by the industrious Colman Aherne and he found Sean Linehan out wide on the left wing and he scored a superb point from an acute angle.  A lovey pass from Ronan O'Keeffe set up Niall Buckley  for another point after excellent defending by Darragh O'Brien and Cormac Dineen. A  good save by goalkeeper Ben Gleeson was cleared by Trevor O'Reilly to Aogan Quinlivan who scored a lovely point. St Finbarrs then got their first point to leave half time  0  -  5 to 0  -  1.  Inniscarra  started the second half well with Darragh O'Brien clearing to Ronan O'Keeffe who was fouled and Niall Buckley pointed the free. Inniscarra then scored a well deserved goal by Sean Linehan after excellent work by Daniel O'Connor and Sean Murphy. St Finbarrs then scored three points and put tremendous pressure on the Inniscarra backs but the full back line of Conor O'Sullivan,Trevor O'Reilly and Michael Lyons were superb ably assisted by goalkeeper Ben Gleeson and repelled many attacks. A point by Niall Buckley after good work by Colman Aherne and Ben O'Connell was a welcome relief and he followed with another point after good work by Cormac Dineen and Aogan Quinlivan and Darragh Lyons. Inniscarra had more defending to do with William O'Connell and Conor Earle to the fore and  held out until the last minute when St Finbarrs eventually scored  goal but Inniscarra were  victorious on a scoreline of   1  -  8   to   1  -  5.
