FE-13 C3 FOOTBALL LEAGUE FINAL 2018-11-15 09:15:00

In a very entertaining and exciting game played at Ballincollig on  Monday evening, Inniscarra were just pipped at the post in their quest for the league title. The first half was evenly contested but on the scoreboard Inniscarra trailed by  1 - 6 to 1 point thanks to some fine saves by the Ballincollig goalkeeper, the first save coming early in the game when a long clearance by Dylan Costello was carried upfield by Ryan O'Connell to Odhran Lynch and his pass picked out Luke Kennelly on the edge of the square but his shot on goal was saved. Good work at midfield by Luke Walsh and  Tadgh O'Keeffe released Ciaran Gould whose shot on goal was again saved. A brilliant save by Inniscarra goalkeeper Jack Desmond, when he tipped the ball over the bar,was followed by another good Inniscarra move involving Adam Doyle and Ciaran Desmond with the ball quickly reaching Con O'Mahony who picked out Michael Murphy but his shot was just wide. Brilliant defending by Luc Mellouin, who gave an expert display on corner-back play, got his clearance to Tadgh O'Keeffe and his strong running through the Ballincollig defence resulted in a free which Luke Kennelly pointed.  The second half started with Inniscarra on the attack with Odhran Lynch having a shot deflected out for a 45 which Adam Doyle took and after some excellent play by Donal Dineen the ball reached Daniel O'Connor who scored a goal. Inniscarra were now playing some excellent football with the half back line of Ciaran Desmod, Tadhg Lyons and Callum Larkin driving the ball into the forwards and Tadhg O'Keeffe controlling the full back line. Excellent play by the hard running Jonathan Pigott got the ball to Daniel O'Connor and he scored another point. Good work by Luke Walsh and Daniel Murphy resulted in the ball reaching Darragh O'Brien who scored an excellent point. More good work by Jonathan Pigott and Tadhg Lyons resulted in Adam Doyle scoring an well deserved goal followed by a good point by Luke Walsh. After trailing by 8 points at half time the sides were now level and Inniscarra looked the likely winners. Another good move involving Callum Larkin and Tadhg Lyons resulted in the ball reaching Daniel Murphy and he scored a very good point to put Inniscarra in front for the first time. Unfortunately for Inniscarra Ballincollig scored the final two points  of the game to win by one point in a pulsating finish but this was an excellent display by Inniscarra and each player contributed to a very enjoyable game.   Scorers,  Daniel O'Connor  1  -  1,  Adam Doyle  1  -  0, Luke Kennelly  0  -  1,  Darragh O'Brien  0  -  1,  Luke Walsh  0  -  1,  Daniel Murphy  0  -  1.Team,  Jack Desmond,  Luc Mellouin,  Adam Doyle,  Dylan Costello,  Ciaran Desmond,  Tadhg Lyons,  Callum Larkin,  Tadgh O'Keeffe,  Luke Walsh,  Ryan O'Connell,  Michael Murphy,  Con O'Mahony,  Ciaran Gould,  Luke Kennelly,  Odhran Lynch.  subs, Daniel O'Connor for Ryan,  Jonathan Pigott for Dylan,  Daniel Murphy for Con, Donal Dineen for Ciaran,  Darragh O'Brien for Luke K,   Ronan O'Keeffe,  Eoin O'Sullivan.  Huge thanks to mentors  Brian Hayes,  Pat Larkin,  Kevin O'Keeffe and Denis Lynch for all their hard work and commitment throughout the year.
