INNISCARRA GAA ANNUAL SEAMUS NOONAN LONG PUCK PRESENTATION NIGHT

On a cold St Stephens afternoon the members, supporters, families and foreign relations & friends (our French guests this year especially) turned up to partake in the clubs Seamus Noonan Long Puck. This event is organised each year by a very dedicated committee and this year they had a very successful event again. Mary Noonan daughter of Seamus donated the perpetual cup for this event a few years ago and each year there is a lot of competition amongst the teams to win and this year was no different and have it displayed on their mantelpiece for the following twelve months. It was decided before the event as in previous years the two charities that would be receiving the proceeds from the day. This year the proceeds were donated to Marymount Hospice in Curraheen and the Jamie Wall Fund (a past Cork Intermediate Player in 2014). On Thursday 15th the presentation was made in the Wayside Bar to Ann Ellard of Marymount Hospice and she gave a brief outline of where the funds will be going. Some extra beds were opened in the past year and part of the funds will go to help in this and other items within the hospice, Anne also said that it doesn't matter how small the donation she has written receipts for as little as €2 from people and it all helps. Michael Wall, father of Jamie Wall, was also present to accept the proceeds from the committee. He briefly outlined the status of Jamie - Jamie played a hurling game and a few days later he was in hospital having an operation to remove an abscess from his spine.  As a result of this, it has left him paralysed from the chest down. Jamie is now attending the rehab unit in Dun Laoghaire where he continues to get treatment on a daily basis. Michael also said the GAA community in general have been a great support to Jamie and his family in the past few months. We all wish Jamie well in his recovery and hope the proceeds we donated will help in some way. Also present on the night were the organising committee, club officers & members of the Inniscarra GAA & Inniscarra Camogie club. Some lightrefreshments were organised by the Keating family for all present on the night and all went down a treat. The clubs are already looking forward to the event in 2015.
