U15H Premier One Hurling League 2015

Inniscarra U15 hurlers had their first taste of top flight divison hurling this month with impressive wins over Ballincollig and Blackrock in the U15 Rebel Og Premier One Hurling League. Two top class games emerged in glorious sunshine.

Inniscarra 2:16 Ballincollig 4:6
After equally impressive wins over St. Finbarrs & NemoRangers in challenge matches, our first league outing in this grade was against Ballincollig. The team got off to an excellent start leading 12pts to 3pts at half time despite several unlucky wides and near misses on goal. The second half was an entirely different game with Ballincollig players putting up a spirited second half challenge but our lads responded in equally determined fashion.  Players who impressed on the night were Cian Power with some great breaks on goal and also great scores from our forwards on the night Dillion Church, Eddie O’Connor, Liam Ryan, Darragh Hughes, Frankie Horgan & Owen McCarthy.  A  number of positives were taken from the game which set us up well for our next game versus Blackrock.

Blackrock 1:5  Inniscarra 3:10
The trip to the Rockies was a first for this team and playing into a strong wind and sun in the first half the team put up an impressive performance. The team got off to a a “rocky” start with an unfortunate goal conceded within one minute of the throw-in which set the game up for an
interesting battle. However, from that point forward our backs dominated the game with majestic performances by Con’OLeary, Jack Sullivan, Evan Kelly, Robert Cahill, Cillian Murphy, Brian Lenihan & Mark McLoughlin.  Some excellent saves by Padraig Holland in goals when it mattered most stopped Blackrock gaining any momentum to claw their way back into this game.  Strong second half’s from our forwards Sean Geary, Mark Buckley, Eoghan Daly and Frankie Horgan (popped up with two excellent goals) and with Jamie O’Sullivan smart play acting as the extra defensive player ensured a confident display against a top class team with several county players. Overall a great start to the campaign but with Douglas, Midleton, Sarsfield and Duhallow ahead, there are much stiffer challenges for this group but we have great confidence in their ability!

Current 2015 Panel: M Buckley,  Dillion Church,  Cian Power, Robert Cahill, Eoghan Daly, Sean Geary,  Padraig Holland, Darragh Hughes, Frankie Horgan, Evan Kelly, Cillian Murphy, Brian Lenihan, Mark McLoughlin, Fergal O’Leary (currently injured) , Con O’Leary, Eddie O’Connor, Jamie O’Sullivan, Liam Ryan,  Jack Sullivan.

Finally, we wish Liam Ryan and Owen McCarthy our best wishes playing with Cork this year.
