INNISCARRA 2 - 7, BALLINCOLLIG 1 - 6.

Inniscarra defeated near neighbours Ballincollig last Saturday in Blarney in the Rebel Og Premier 2 U-16 Football Championship. This was a hard earned but well deserved victory with a very determined Inniscarra team fighting to the very end. Ballincollig led by three points to nil after ten minutes but Inniscarra were competing well. Their shooting was off target on many occasions but with Jamie O'Sullivan and Mark McLoughlin playing brilliantly at mid field and Ciaran Lombard sweeping behind them, Inniscarra gained control. Dave Og Coleman got Inniscarra’s first point from a free.  A line ball from the excellent Michael O'Connell found Colin O'Sullivan in the corner and he took on his marker and raced for goal and scored a brilliant goal.  This was followed by another point from Dave Og Coleman and before half time Colin O'Sullivan centred for Mark McLoughlin to punch the ball to the net.

The first score of the second half was a brilliant move starting with a clearance from Sam Doyle to Ciaran Lombard who found Liam Ryan onto Ardal O'Connell and Colin O'Sullivan split the posts for a point.  Dave Og Coleman pointed a free after good work by Liam Buckley.  Owen McCarthy forced a 45 which the goalkeeper saved but Ardal O'Connell was alert to put the ball over the bar.  A good run from Dylan Church set up Dave Coleman for another point. Ballincollig got a goal back with seven minutes remaining but Inniscarra backs stood firm with full back line of Mark Burke, Callum Morris and Emmet Leen keeping the opposition at bay. A good clearance from James Buckley found Frank Hogan who was fouled and Dave Coleman converted the resulting free to leave the final score INNISCARRA 2 - 7 BALLINCOLLIG 1 - 6.
